DONALD SIMPSON BROWN Donald Simpson Brown passed away suddenly on July 1, 2007 at Kenton, MB. Don, the second son of the late Harold and Leila Brown, formerly of Oakner, MB, was born on June 10, 1928 in Hamiota, MB. A service to celebrate his life was held at Kenton United Church, Kenton Manitoba on Thursday, July 5, 2007 with Barbara Rediker officiating. Interment followed in the family plot, Greenwood Cemetery, Woodworth Municipality. Remembrances were shared by nieces Leah and Sara Hunter. Bearers were nephews Ryan Carter and Chad Hunter. Don is survived by brothers Allan (Marian) of Strathmore, AB, Charles (Anne) of Port Coquitlam, BC, sisters Catherine Carter of Kenton and Lillian (Gordon) Seaborn of Saskatoon, SK, brother-in-law, Murray Bell of Isabella, MB, and sister-in-law Barbara Brown of Hamiota in addition to 16 nephews and nieces and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Leila, brothers Norman and Keith; sister Phyllis Bell, sister-in-law Esther Brown, brother-in-law Alan Carter and nephew Kelly Seaborn. Don farmed all his life on the Brown Century farm in the Oakner district. He received a Diploma in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba in 1948. As a youth, he was a member of the Oakner Calf Club and, as a young man, excelled in hockey, baseball and fastball with various district clubs. Throughout his life, he supported all local sports and civic activities. His early desire was to join the RCAF during the Second World War but he was under age. This interest in flying and aeroplanes continued throughout his life and he took every opportunity to fulfill this passion. He enjoyed many hours of instruction with Uncle Ernie Brown and later with his nephew, Kelly Seaborn. Other challenges in Donald's life were his army militia courses during the winter of 1957 in Winnipeg, 1960 in Edmonton and 1962 in Victoria. While in Edmonton, he successfully completed a diesel mechanic course at CVTC. Don travelled extensively during the winter months in Canada, USA, and the UK in search of genealogy information on relatives and friends. He was known to all whom knew him well as the Family Historian. Don made his home with his sister Catherine these four past years. He was an avid gardener, a faithful and loyal visitor and supporter to all his family and friends. He closely followed the development and successes of all his relatives and of many children of friends and neighbours. His joy in life were things well done, From early morn to setting sun. We loved him so, but God loved him best So He took him home with Him to rest.
