ROY LESLIE MCGREGOR BUTLER -
Date of Passing: Jul 29, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY LESLIE MCGREGOR BUTLER 1926 - 2007 After a brave fight, Roy Butler passed away at the Grace Hospital on July 29, 2007. Roy was a man who displayed dignity and respect for everyone. He was a compassionate, considerate and loving man to his family and his friends. His big smile and wonderful laugh will be missed by all of us. In life, Roy had been a member of the Canadian Navy, joining when he was 17 years old. He had been a geologist, a career he truly enjoyed as he loved nature and the rugged outdoors. He was an integral part of the exploration team that discovered the Thompson Mines. His final career was as a teacher at Kelvin High School. He was a Blue Bomber season ticket holder for 40 years and a member of the Winnipeg Rods in his youth. He is survived by the one true love of his life, his wife, Joanne Findlater and her four children, Rock Findlater (Rhonda), Lori Butler (Jim Garside), Apryl Lemming (Robert), and Patti Worbanski (Ray). He was a cherished Papa to his grandchildren, Ian, Chloe and Brett Findlater, Joel and Kyla Garside, and Carmen Kalupar (Andrew) with great-granddaughter Haileigh, Andrew (Sarah) and Adam (Jennifer) Ashton. He is also survived by sisters, Doris Kaye of Vernon, BC, and Molly McKay of Sydney, Australia; four nephews and two nieces and their families. One of our fondest memories and Roy's greatest pleasure was enjoying a glass of red wine on the deck while barbecuing a roast for the family. As Roy requested, cremation has taken place and friends are invited to join the family for a party on August 11, 2007, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 18 Paradise Bay, Charleswood. We will love you and miss you Roy, Papa, and send you on your way with this Celtic Blessing. Deep peace of the running wave to you. Deep peace of the quiet earth to you. Deep peace of the flowing air to you. Deep peace of the shining star to you.
