ANNE SARAH SAGERT (nee HEIDE) April 11, 1926 to July 28, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished wife and mother, Anne Sagert. Anne passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at Beacon Hill Lodge. Anne leaves behind her husband of 48 years Oscar Sagert; her two sons, James (Sheila) and Mark Sagert; two sisters, Eleanor Schlick and Sarah Derewianchuk; and three brothers, Frank, Jack and Ian Hyde. Anne was predeceased by her mother Annie Heide; her father, Nikolai Heide; three brothers, George, Henry and Jack Hyde; and her sister, Luella Hyde. Mom was born in the rustic town of Lowe Farm, Manitoba. Born on April 11, 1926 into a large family, mom often spoke of the love, solidarity and respect each sibling had and exhibited for each other. It was these qualities that brought them (successfully) through the Great Depression. This most formidable period of time instilled in mom her faith, along with the values and qualities that made her so well loved, so well thought of, and so sought out. In the late 1940s, after devoting much of her early years to the rearing of her younger siblings, mom forged out on her own, making it to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom somehow managed to support herself while completing Success Business College. Mom went on to enjoy a successful and rewarding career as a stenographer. Mom met her (to be) husband, Oscar at Grant Memorial Baptist Church in the spring of 1956. Mom's greatest achievement was the raising of her family. Mom was the picture of dedication and selflessness when it came to her kids. Mom's efforts on behalf of her family were boundless. Above all other worldly concerns, her family came first. In later years, her desire to help other less fortunate souls led her to volunteer at Union Gospel Mission. Mom was compelled by her need to help others and improve their plight on this earth; and in doing so share the Word of God with them. Mom possessed a multitude of personal interests. Mom had a passion for gardening which permeated her home, both inside and out. Mom's hunger for reading was legendary amongst her circle of friends and family. Each and every evening, one could count on mom being in the kitchen reading the Winnipeg Free Press from cover to cover. Mom had a passion for music. The radio in her home was rarely turned off. Mom's appreciation for God's creatures (of seemingly every variety) was manifested by the abundance of family pets that were loved and cherished throughout her entire life. Mom was grateful for the life bestowed upon her. Mom treated her time upon this planet as a precious gift from God, not to be squandered but to be valued and used as His vessel. Mom lived a full, ebullient life. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, August 7, at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, in keeping with mom's concern for those around all of us, in need of care - especially the young and helpless - donations may be made in her memory to World Vision Canada, 1 World Dr., Mississauga, ON., L5T 2Y4. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to mom's caregivers at Beacon Hill Lodge for their care and attention to our beloved mother. As well, the family is forever grateful to mom's sister, Eleanor Schlick. The companionship and aid you gave mom - in her own time of need - will be long remembered. It took time and patience, to care for us the way you did. And yet, no matter how hard things got, You never seemed to lose your faith ... your optimism ... your sense of humour. ALWAYS LOVED ... ALWAYS REMEMBERED THOMSON IN THE PARK FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY 1291 MCGILLIVRAY BLVD WWW.THOMSONINTHEPARK.COM 925-1120
