DORIS MAY SCRIVENER On July 26, 2007, Doris May Scrivener passed away peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital after a brief illness. A mother and grandmother, Doris will remain forever in the hearts of her son Martin, wife Chris and children Michelle, Chelsea and Chad; and daughter Julie, husband Kelly and son Braden. Also left to mourn are her two sisters, Winnie and Kath and their families back in England. Mum was predeceased by her best friend and husband of over 50 years, Peter, only last year. Doris was born in England on August 9, 1929. She proudly served in the WRENS (British Women's Royal Navy Services) before marrying and having her two children. Together in 1966, Doris and Peter moved their young family to Canada finally settling in Teulon where they made their home for more than 30 years. Mum really enjoyed reading, knitting, gardening, bowling, playing bingo and card games. She also had a strong love for animals. Mum was a strong woman who faced many challenges but the one that she was not fully able to overcome was the loss of Dad. The family finds peace in the knowledge that they are together again. The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital, as well as the Betel Home Foundation in Selkirk where Mum had been living for the last few months. We are also grateful to the caring staff at the Teulon Hunter Memorial Hospital and the Home Care ladies that were so good to Mum before her move to Selkirk. In lieu of flowers and in memory of Doris, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. Doris's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Teulon MacKenzie Funeral Chapel on August 9, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. Arrangements by MacKenzie Funeral Home.
