EDITH MARY LYDIA MUIR (nee VARNES) December 29, 1919 - August 1, 2007 On August 1, at Victoria General Hospital, Edith passed away peacefully with daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Paul, at her side. Edith will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Linda Leonard, and son-in-law Paul; grandchildren Jeff of Brantford, and Andrea; great-grandson Taylor; extended family: Sandra and Sean (Susan and children Samantha and Aleyna); her brothers-in-law Bob (Joy) and Art; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Larry and husband of 65 years, Tom. Edith's career included working at the Bay, McDonald Grain Company, Better Business Bureau, and the Rotary Villa. She was one of the first females to work in the field of property management and she enjoyed this part of her career for over 40 years. Her last 10 work years were as the administrator at the Rotary Villa- a senior citizens' complex in Fort Garry. After retiring in 1985 she enjoyed travelling with her husband, Tom. In 2001 Edith was warmly welcomed by the staff at Golden Links Lodge where she remained a resident for over six years. She was active on the resident council and the palliative care team. Because of her incredible sense of what is right and fair, she was always an advocate for the other residents and she will be missed by them. She was also like a second mom to many of the staff, a good listener and friend, and they will miss her. Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at Golden Links Lodge, 2280 St. Mary's Road, on Thursday, August 9 at 10:30 a.m. Her friends are very welcome to attend. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Golden Links Lodge, in particular 1 North, and most particularly Jan, Kathy, Maris and Noella. Also thanks to the ER staff at the Victoria General Hospital. In lieu of flowers, a donation could be made to a charity of your choice. Neil Bardal Inc. 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
