JEAN OLEKSON July 1917 - August 2007 On Thursday, August 2, 2007, we are sorry to announce that Mom passed away at the Kildonan Personal Care Home at the age of 90 years. Mom will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Daughter Beverley (Denis) Normand and family, Denise Normand, Ron (Susan), Scott and Heather Normand of Winnipeg; daughter Diane (Don) Kish and family, Sharyn (Jeff) and Jake and Lia Schellenberg of Denver, Colorado, Barbara (Dwayne) and Monique, Jacqueline and Phillip Gauthier of Winnipeg, Michelle (Robert) and John Pauls of Indianapolis, Indiana, her son Jim Olekson of Winnipeg, sisters-in-law, Marjorie Schick, Selkirk, MB, Ethel Metcalf of Parksville, BC, Edith Lessie of Thayer, Indiana, brothers-in-law Steve Rapko, Gonor, MB and Danny (Mary) Olekson of Pointe du Bois, MB and, numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband Nick in 1999, her nephew John (Evelyn) Fostaychuk, her parents Helen and Tony Yaworski of Sandy Lake, MB and all her sisters and brothers. Jean was born in Sandy Lake, MB and walked to school every morning several miles to Sandy Lake School. She came to Winnipeg in 1935 and met her husband Nick and married him on February 23, 1939. They made a life together along with their many friends first on Cumberland Ave., and then on Ferry Road in St. James. When Dad retired from the Float Repair business in 1975 they moved to Nutimik Lake in Whiteshell Provincial Park where she lived until January of this year when she entered Kildonan Personal Care Home. She travelled several times to Indiana and Colorado. Mom had a good sense of humour and always added her little quips and giggles in a conversation. She was a wonderful, loving mother to all of us. She always had something baked for tea and treated everyone like family. She loved her deer and birds at the lake. Mom You can only have one mother Loving, kind and true No other friend in all the world, Will be so true to you For all her love and kindness She asked nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our mother we could turn For those of you who have a mother Treasure her with care For you will never know her value Til you see that she is not there To hear her voice to see her smile To be together in the same old way Would be our dearest wish today. God bless you mother we will miss you so. Father in Heaven, hear our prayer Guard mother with tender care Be a good shepherd, don't leave her alone, love her as we loved her when she was here at home. With heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Home especially Czlawa, whom she spoke about and liked very much. Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 7 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
