Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRALF SCHIEMANN May 05 1958 - August 02 2007 It is with profound sadness that Nancy Newton announces the passing of Ralf Schiemann. Ralf passed away on August 2, 2007 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Ralf's memory will be cherished and carried on by his life partner and best friend Nancy Newton, all his extended family through Nancy, his nieces and nephews, John and Tuera (Newton), Katlyn and Erin (Carter), Liam and Sean (Collins) and his godchildren Caleigh and Liam (Patrick), and his many friends. Ralf was born on May 5, 1958 in Germany. He was raised by his grandparents, and when the time came, Ralf joined the German army. It was during this time that Ralf came to Canada to train at CFB Shilo. After returning to Germany, Ralf left the army and returned to Canada and settled in Winnipeg in 1989. Ralf, a mechanic by trade, worked at J M Cycle, and was always exploring and examining the working of bikes, even when not at work. Ralf also enjoyed spending time at the gym working out with his many friends, his trips to Alberta to spend time with family, time spent at Lake of the Woods and brunches at Doxi's. Most of all though, Ralf loved taking his bikes to Riding Mountain Park, where he and Nancy would ride for hours, enjoying nature and quiet times spent together. Ralf touched everyone's life he entered. He had an inner strength and knowledge that left an impression on everyone he met. His love of children and animals; especially his special ladies, Kitty Kitty, Paddy Kitty and Pipsqueak was extraordinary and heartwarming. He left a smile on the faces of all who knew him. Ralf, you were my best friend, you were my heart and soul and until we meet again, I will hold you in my heart. Nancy would like to extend great thanks to the staff at Riverview and the Health Sciences Centre A5 unit for their care and compassion, particularly during Ralf's final days. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Westminster Church Chapel, side entrance on Westminster at 1:00 p.m. Donations in Ralf's memory can be made to Quagga No Kill Cat Shelter, Box 552, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2J3.
