HELEN MELMOTH Peacefully, on Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Riverview Health Centre. Helen is lovingly remembered and will be deeply missed by her daughter Carole; son Wallace and his wife, Mary; her dear grandsons, Tyler, Derek and Ryan. Also survived by sisters, Mary Gos of Hamilton, Ontario and Justine Adams of Sanford, North Carolina, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Wallace; sisters, Anne Hunt and Nel Mazur; son-in-law Michael Brown. Born in Gilbert Plains, Helen moved to Winnipeg at an early age. There she met and married Wallace during the Second World War. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. Mom was a woman of great resourcefulness. A mother of two youngsters, she enrolled in night school and became proficient in shorthand and office skills. She joined the staff of the then-City of St. Vital in 1959 and remained in the employ of the City of Winnipeg until her retirement. Skilled at handicrafts, she enthusiastically created a wide variety of treasures to be enjoyed by family and friends. Best of all, though, she loved family gatherings and delighted in planning, preparing and sharing her marvelous dinners. Many thanks to the staff of 3E, Riverview Health Care Centre, for your tender and dedicated care of Helen during her illness. You set the gold standard for care giving, and this was so appreciated by Helen and by her family. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Trans Canada Highway No. 1 East at Navin Road, Rev. Monsignor D. Ward Jamieson officiating. Interment to follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends wish, contributions may be made to the Riverview Health Care Centre Foundation, One Morley Avenue, R3L 2P4, or to a charity of one's choice.
