GERALD WARREN SMITHERS March 9, 1918 August 4, 2007 Warren passed away peacefully on Saturday at the Seven Oaks Hospital following a brief illness. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Grace; children, Anne, David and Gail; grandchildren, Susan, Christopher, Warren, Sarah and Scott; great-grandchildren, Madison, Dylan and Jessica; sister, Marion (Robertshaw) and niece, Sharon (Bateman). Warren was born in Woodstock, Ontario and worked for the T. Eaton Co. in Ontario. Later he worked for Sears and Canadian Tire in Winnipeg. He will be remembered for his dedication to his work and the many jokes he told. Warren was an avid sportsperson and an active member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and the Khartum Shriners. He received his 50 year pin as a Free Mason this year. Warren and Grace were also members of the Sparling United Church. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street. His family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the caring staff of the Seven Oaks Hospital (5th Floor, Unit 4) for the excellent care Warren received during his time there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
