GORDON SLY R.H. 1928 - 2007 Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Gordon passed away at Grace Hospice on August 4, 2007. He will be sorely missed by his wife, Joan of 56 years; two sons, Robert (Lynn), David (Gisele) and daughter Christine Giesbrecht (Ken), four grandchildren, Adriana Sly, Nicholas, Jackson, and Michael Giesbrecht; brother-in-law John Buchanan; sister-in-law Melita Sly of Florida as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Bert; sister Dorothy; brother-in-law Bruce Buchanan; sister-in-law Stella Buchanan; sister-in-law Jacqueline Buchanan; niece Jan Lea Buchanan and nephew John Bruce Buchanan. He entered the Bank of Montreal in Toronto in 1947 and was transferred to Winnipeg in 1949. He joined the Hudson Bay Co. in 1952 and served in Winnipeg and Saskatoon until 1960. He then joined R.L. Crain in Regina as a sales rep. from 1960 to 1967. He was transferred to Winnipeg where he remained until his retirement in 1991. Cremation has already taken place, followed by a private family service. Those who wish to celebrate Gord's life may join the family at a reception at St. Charles Country Club, 100 Country Club Boulevard, on Thursday, August 9, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1P6, or a charity of your choice.
