MARY ELIZABETH COLBERT (nee COOK) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Colbert, on August 6, 2007, at the age of 99. Left to cherish her memory are Stewart and Doreen Colbert, Maureen and Larry Mozel; grandchildren, Shannon (Glen) Evans, Leah (Donald) Brown, Allan (Lorna) Mozel and her five great-grandsons, Justin, Nicholas, Cole, Connor and Jonathan, along with many nephews and nieces. Mary was predeceased by her husband Leslie in March of 1992 and her sisters, Margaret Wither in May 2004 and Helen Wood in 1972. Mary was born on July 23, 1908, in the Millbrook District, where she met and married her husband Les. They spent 54 years together on their farm, east of Dugald, raising their family. Mary's community involvement began at an early age, with the Farmer's Union, and continued with the Hazelridge-Millbrook and Anola United Church, the United Church Women and the Chatelaine Club. Mary was well known for her sewing skills, her projects ranged from quilting, clothing, knitting and crocheting. Her homemade bread and pies were second to none. She loved gardening and had a passion for reading. Mary was devoted to her family and her friends. She always offered her unconditional love, her shoulder to cry on, her ear to listen and support to all. Mary moved to the Sunrise Lodge in Anola, in 1996. She came to enjoy life in town, and enjoyed visiting with neighbours. A service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Friday, August 10, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day Street, with Rev. Carol Fletcher officiating. Interment to follow at Millbrook Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allan Mozel, Donald Brown, Glen Evans, Keith Colbert, David Scrivens and Lawrence Scrivens. The family would like to thank Drs. Lage and Bergen, all her homecare workers, and the nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and concern for Mary. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society. Always in our hearts. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements
