GLADYS CHAMBERLAIN 1916 - 2007 It is with profound sadness that the passing of Gladys Chamberlain, much loved aunt of Patricia Stanger (Norman), at the Riverview Health Centre on August 6, 2007 is announced. Gladys was predeceased by her beloved daughter Gail Harriet Chamberlain, whose untimely death at the age of 20 was a sadness which Gladys carried with her always. Gladys was also predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Young, Daisy Morley, Lil Schorah, Ivy Moran, and Elsie Patterson; her brother Jack Moore; her parents, A. E. (Jack) and Harriet Moore, and her second father , her brother-in-law Frank Schorah, who always called her Pink . She was also predeceased by her nieces, Shirley Leclair and Marion Willis and her lifelong friend Marge Young. She is survived by many nieces and her godchildren, Craig, Michelle, and Lori-Anne. Gladys was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. She was proud of the fact that her father, Jack Moore, was a founding member and Dominion Chairman for many years of this organization. She was also an active and enthusiastic member of the Golden Rule Seniors where she enjoyed the company of the crafts group. When the C.N.R. shops in Fort Rouge were in operation, Gladys was in charge of the canteen. After the closing of the shops, she obtained a position as an office and teachers' assistant at Hastings Elementary School. She enjoyed the association with a unique teaching staff and the kindness and friendship of the late Lesia Kapty and the late Walter Klymkiw in the office. Gladys had a great sense of humour and this was most evident when she watched sports on TV. She loved sports and especially Winnipeg teams. She could be very vocal when her team' played like dummkopfs or donkeys . As her sight failed, she followed the games by watching the colours of the jerseys. Life presented many challenges for Gladys, and although she was small in stature, she was courageous when she faced adversity. We will miss her very much. According to her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be interred at Brookside Cemetery where she will join Gail for eternity. Our sincere thanks to the staff on 3C at Riverview Health Centre for their many years of compassionate care.

  • I was bartised in June of 1946 and Jack moore was my godfather. My father was Fred Clifford and he was a member of Jacks "Young mens unit". My father spoke kindly of Jack all the years of his life. A photo of Jack Moore hung in our farm house for over 65 years, it is now lost. Not forgotten....Rest in peace Mrs. Chamberlain. - Posted by: Frank Clifford (Godson) on: Jul 15, 2012
