Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANASTASIA (NETTIE) CHABLUK (nee PALIDWOR) January 28, 1920 - August 5, 2007 Peacefully, on Sunday, August 5, 2007, Anastasia Chabluk passed away at Concordia Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her sons, Bill (Maryka) and Terry (Angela); grandchildren, Katrusia, Mikhas and Ivasyk; brother, Harry (Jocelyn); sister, Olive (Andrew); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Michael; daughter Mary (at birth); parents Karl and Katherine Palidwor; and siblings Mary, Nick, Bill, Michael and John. Anastasia was born in Winnipeg where she attended Brooklands School. In 1929, the family moved to the Oak Bank, MB, area where they homesteaded a small farm. As a young woman, she held a variety of jobs to help the family make ends meet; however, she still found time for fun, including singing in a band for local dances. She met her husband, Michael, in Cooks Creek. After marrying, they moved to Toronto for several years where their children were born. In 1960, they moved back to Manitoba to be closer to family and purchased a farm near Dugald where they farmed together and raised their children. In 2001, they moved into Kin Place Senior's Residence in Oak Bank, where she came to greatly enjoy the social activities and outings, and the company of new friends. Anastasia enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a generous, warm, and caring person, with her greatest loves being her family and her church. Baba loved getting together for family events and especially enjoyed joining the grandchildren on family vacations. She adored her grandchildren. One of her favourite joys was to receive a command performance of Ukrainian music. When Baba asked them to play, there was no turning her down. Anastasia was a deeply spiritual individual, and an example of Christian love. She was a long-standing member of Immaculate Conception Church, Cook's Creek, MB, where, over the years, she served on the Church Committee, the Ladies Committee, and as a volunteer donating countless hours. She had many special talents and traits. She could draw, sing, yodel, drive a tractor, weld, play bingo, and carpet-bowl with the best of them. She had a sharp wit and loved a good laugh. She had a passion for gardening and cooking, and was a welcoming and generous host. You never left her place hungry! Anastasia touched the hearts of all who knew her and will be missed by the many relatives and friends who loved her very much. The family wishes to thank Anastasia's homecare workers, Debbie and Sandi, as well as the staff of N1 North at Concordia Hospital for their compassionate care. Special thanks also to Fr. Taras Kowch and Dobrodika Maryka and the numerous friends and family who visited her in the hospital. Prayers will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Cook's Creek, on Friday, August 10 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral service will be at Immaculate Conception Church on Saturday, August 11 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. Donations in Anastasia's memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Church, Box 35, Group 23, RR#2, Dugald, MB R0E 0K0.
