Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE ANITA BARRY (nee ALGAR) Peacefully, on August 5, 2007, Jessie Anita Barry passed away at Riverview Health Centre. Remaining to cherish her memory are husband and lifelong companion of 63 years, Greg, and their children: Douglas (Joyce), Evelyn Larsson (Ben), Allan (Judi), Ron (Kimberly) and Bryan (Susanna). Jessie will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren Anna (Corey), Christina, Matthew, Trevor, Mandy (Mark), Daniel, Jeffrey, Evan, Bethany, Braeden, Keithan and Skylar, and great-grandchildren Christian, Avery and Courtney. Jessie is survived by her brother Bus Algar as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Born October 19, 1923, Jessie was the youngest of the eight children of Fred and Nettie Algar, pioneer retail merchants in Ponoka, Alberta. She also had two half siblings who survived to adulthood. She was educated in Edmonton, Alberta, where she attended Normal School. She and Greg lived in Edmonton until 1957 when they moved their young, growing family to Oakenwald Avenue in Winnipeg, Greg's home town, where they have resided ever since. Jessie was an excellent cook and baker, avid gardener, accomplished knitter and keen reader. She loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with Greg. Jessie will always be remembered for her love of family, and her kind, gentle, caring, forever graceful and always thoughtful ways. She will remain in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the physicians and nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital and Riverview Palliative Care for their excellent care and compassion. A funeral service will take place on Monday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Donations may be made in Jessie's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Manitoba Division, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
