JOHNNIE REES HARRIS February 5, 1933 - August 8, 2007 We are incredibly sad to announce the death of Johnnie Harris at the Riverview Health Centre. He faced his lung cancer diagnosis with humbling courage. Johnnie accepted his journey with inspiring strength and calm and in turn gave us the ability to support him and one another. Left to mourn his passing is his wife of 33 years and best friend, Barbara, his daughter Diane (Wayne) Fraser, granddaughter Bonnie (Duane) Smith, grandson Lee (Jody) Fraser, great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Jaden and Tyler, all of Fort McMurray; his nieces, Ellyn Harries of Wales and Lynne (Philip) Kotlyk of Golden, and his nephews, David Adams and Lloyd (Brenda) Harris of Winnipeg and his sister-in-law, Alyce Harris of Calgary. Also left to mourn his passing is Barbara's family (who were like his own), mother-in-law, Laurene Hinds, daughter Debra Leishman (Curtis), son Don (Sharon) Kelly, grandsons, Jason, Cory, Ryan, Justin and granddaughter Jaimie. Johnnie was predeceased by his mother, Margaret and father David, his sister Bronwen (Bonnie), brother Glanville and Glyndur and brother-in-law Alfred (Bill) Adams. Johnnie was born and raised in the Weston area and went to Cecil Rhodes School. He was in the Navy, active force, from 1952-1957 and many years in the reserve. He was known as the Pizza Man in Grand Marais from 1970-1978. He retired from Via Rail, Maintenance Ctre., in 1997. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Kilcona Branch #183, Scottish Rite and the Khartum Shrine-Directors Staff. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave., on Wednesday, August 15 at 12:30 p.m. Many thanks to all our caring friends and family for all the calls and visits and loving wishes during his two year battle. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Johnnie's memory to the Khartum Shriners Transportation Fund, 1155 Wilkes Ave., or CancerCare MB or the Riverview Health Centre Foundation. You will always remain in our hearts. XXXOOO Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
