Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED LAWRENCE STROM On Friday, August 10, 2007 my beloved husband Wilf left me. Married in 1951, Audrey and Wilf had 56 years of love and companionship. He loved and was so proud of his little girl Vicky (Averil Share, Josh and Stacy) and his sons, Gerry and Ed. Tanya and Erik were much adored grandchildren. He also leaves special nephew Lorry Allan (wife Janet, adopted grandkids Ashley, Amber, Amy, and Alyson); brother-in-law Jim Mills (Maureen); sister-in-law Maxine Day (George), and many loved nieces and nephews. Wilf was active in coaching competitive swimming, sharing the lives and training hundreds of young swimmers during 27 years with the St. James Seals. He also coached the National Blind Team at Paralympics, being especially proud of Tim McIsaac. He received many honours for his coaching excellence. Wilf was a carpenter, clerk of the works, and inspector and left his mark on numerous buildings in Winnipeg (Manitoba Museum of Man and Nature, Centennial Concert Hall). A service of remembrance will be held at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage on Tuesday, August 14 at 3:00 p.m. We will love you forever.

Feb. 14th, 2019 - Tonight I was thinking about Mr. and Mrs. Strom and decided to Google their names. I came across a video clip and news articles of your accomplishments. Sadly, I just learned of Mr. Strom's passing in August of 2007. I have very fond memories of almost seven years of being coached by Mr. Strom before our family moved to Edmonton. He was a kind person, who I respected a great deal. Because of the ground work received by him I went on to Canadian and University Nationals and also the Olympic Trials. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Strom for your years of dedication to myself (and my brother, Bruce)! - Posted by: Carol Jeremy (née Anderson) (X St. James Seals swimmer) on: Feb 14, 2019

To the Stroms: As an adult I have come to fully appreciate the generosity of the Strom family and your dedication to swimming. I ran into Mr Strom several years ago, at where else, the Pan Am pool. I introduced him to my children and I proudly offered that they "swim like fish". Mr Strom replied, with a twinkle in his eye; "they must have got that from their father!" I think of Mr Strom often, with great fondness . He will be missed by many. Mrs Strom my thoughts are with you and your family at this time.
