WILLIAM (BILL) WEIGHTON Flight Lieutenant R. A. F. Retired June 2, 1924 - August 6, 2007 Born in Glasgow, Scotland, beloved eldest son of William and Margaret (deceased) died peacefully in Victoria, BC with his loving daughter, Anne by his side. With great sadness his devoted family says goodbye to a loving, kind, generous and gentle husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bill's achievements as Air Force navigator (The Second World War in Egypt and Italy), insurance underwriting manager with Great West Life Assurance Company (Winnipeg, Manitoba) for 36 years and later consultant with Empire Life in Kingston, Ontario, and scholar, brought him praise and recognition. He will be best remembered by family, friends and colleagues as a gentle gentleman of trust, honour and for his devotion to duty and love of his family. Bill is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (nee Grierson), devoted daughter Anne (James), son Ian (Ingrid); granddaughters, Fiona, Heather, May, Maureen, Lisa, and one grandson Scott; great-grandchildren Gavin and Makenna, Justin and Emily. He was predeceased by his brother Gilbert in Scotland, and survived by his sister Margaret of Victoria; sisters, Nancy and Jean; brother Ian and their families all in Scotland. Service of remembrance will be held in McCALL'S SEQUOIA GARDENS MEMORIAL, in Victoria on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to Royal Oak Burial Park. Bill's ashes will be interred in the family lair in Arbroath, Scotland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Kiwanis Pavilion, 3034 Cedar Hill Road, Victoria, BC V8T 3J3 would be greatly appreciated by Bill's family where he received devoted and high quality care and love from all the wonderful and dedicated staff.
