Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS ALBERT HALSTEAD With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad, Tom Halstead, on August 11, 2007 at the Carman Memorial Hospital. Tom was born in Myrtle, Manitoba on March 24, 1921 to Harvey and Ann Halstead, and currently resided in Starbuck, Manitoba Tom was predeceased by his wife Ethel in 1989, three brothers, Norman, Les, and baby Charlie, four sisters, Lillies, Bertha, Dorothy, and Millie of whom Tom was the youngest. He leaves one daughter, Sandra Ammeter and husband Rudy, one son Clare and wife Sandra Halstead; five grandchildren, Wes (Kathy), Michael (Pamela) Ammeter, Debbie Ammeter, Jeff (Brenda), and Tim (Cherie) Halstead; eight great grandchildren, Amy and Ian Brooks, Angela, Eric, and Matthew Ammeter, Andrew, Jessica, and Benjamyn Halstead. Tom moved to Starbuck in 1940 where he worked for Fred Weidman. This was were he met Ethel .Tom and Ethel bought their own farm in 1948 where they lived and raised their family. The farm was 5 miles south of Starbuck and is still being farmed by Clare and Sandra. In 2000 he moved into the Starview Manor and 2006 he moved into Riverdale apartments. He loved his farm and woodworking, playing cards, scrabble, cribbage and shuffle board and loved just being with people When dad played cribbage it was very seldom that he lost, he just seemed to have the right card at the right time. Thanks to the nursing staff at Carman Hospital and the homecare workers in Starbuck that took such good care of dad. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck, with Pastor Ron Vert officiating. Interment will take place at the Starbuck Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice. Doyle's Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
