Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCECIL GOLDHAWK It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Cecil, husband, dad, and gramps, on Thursday, August 9, 2007. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 57 years, Loverna; loving children: Janis (Howard) McMillan, Patti (Glen) Firth, Todd (Cheryl) Goldhawk; grandchildren: Jenna (Pat) Stafford, Tyler and Whitney McMillan, Devin Firth, Brett and Kristine Goldhawk; brother George (Barbara); sister Joyce Byers, nieces and nephew. He will be sadly missed by many friends. Cecil was born on December 2, 1926 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Cecil was a member of the Armed Forces before he met and married the girl next door in 1949. Cecil started working at the M.L.C.C. in 1950 and retired from there in 1987. He was also a volunteer for 25 years with the 33rd Bannatyne Group Boy Scouts and a member of the Valour Road Legion and later Fort Rouge Legion. Cecil's passions were his love of his grandchildren; his past dogs, Shara and Jazz. He loved spending time at cabins with his children and grandchildren. Cecil enjoyed camping, golf, curling and weekend prayer meetings on the deck. Most of all Cecil loved life. He was friendly, kind, sensitive, and he had a great sense of humour. He always put a smile on your face by telling you one of his favourite jokes. The family would like to thank the doctors, Terry Desautels and her wonderful staff on 3 South at the Grace Hospital for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Dr. Gary Schroeder for being there. A service will be held Friday, August 17, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., Chaplain Brenda Arndt officiating, with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715
