ROSINA WOLF 1928 - 2007 It is with very deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Rosina Wolf (nee Mueller), our beloved and cherished mother and Oma, on August 12, 2007, at Health Sciences Centre. She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory, daughter Heidi and son-in-law Brent Fawkes, and grandsons Eric and Matthew; her sister Maria Schneider and sister-in-law Rosina Emrich and many friends and family members. Rosina was predeceased by her husband Daniel Wolf, parents Maria and Johann Mueller, and her stepbrothers Johann, George and Martin Emrich. Rosina was born on May 31, 1928, into a Saxon (German) family in Grosschogen, Siebenburgen Romania. She was the youngest of five children. Since her stepbrothers and sister were much older, she essentially grew up as an only child. She had an enjoyable childhood and went to school until Grade 8. In the fall of 1943 Rosina and her family fled to Einersheim, Middle Franconia (Baveria) as the war approached. In 1950 she left her parents and family behind and came to Canada. It was one of the hardest decisions she had to make. Her mother became very ill and died in 1952 and her father a few years later. Rosina was heart broken as she never saw her parents again after coming to Canada. On December 2, 1950, she married Daniel Wolf. She lived on the family farm with her husband and in-laws in Petersfield, Manitoba, for two years before moving to Winnipeg. And so she started a new chapter in her life. Upon their arrival in Winnipeg, they became members of St. Peter's Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. Rosina found employment sewing at Crown Cap Mfg and continued to work on the farm on weekends. She worked very hard throughout her life. She stayed at Crown Cap for 16 years until 1969 when Heidi was born, her and Daniel's only daughter. The next several years were busy, but happy ones. Then in 1980 her husband Daniel became very ill with cancer. A year later after a long and painful battle, he passed away. She had a very strong faith all her life and this took her through all the difficult times and challenges as she faced raising her daughter on her own. Throughout her life Rose loved to garden and be outdoors. She took great joy in maintaining her home and yard in the Elmwood area where she lived for the last 33 years. Rose was a devoted mother and grandmother and her family meant the world to her. She always looked after everyone else never thinking of herself. Anyone who met her will never forget her. Rose was overjoyed in 2001 when she became an Oma for the first time. She adored her grandsons. Her pride and joy was her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She looked forward to making Sunday evening suppers for her family and beamed with happiness at every opportunity to visit and play with her boys. You are now an angel watching over us and will forever be in our hearts. We miss you Mom and Oma. We would like to extend our appreciation to the doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre, Coronary Care Unit. Viewing will take place on Thursday, August 16, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Inc., located at 984 Portage Avenue (Aubrey Street entrance). The funeral service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 66 Walnut Street (corner of Walnut and Wolseley), Pastor Heimo Bachmeyer officiating. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Avenue. For those who wish, donations may be made in Rose's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 200-6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6, or St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 65 Walnut Street, Winnipeg, MB R3G 1N9.
