Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHETTIE DAWES (nee WENSEL) Hettie Dawes (nee Wensel) passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on August 10, 2007 at the age of 90. She is lovingly remembered by her son Bill (Carol); grandchildren, Joanne (Don) Baran, Glenn (Cheryl) Dawes and Jeff (Robyn) Dawes, and great-grandchildren, Jessica, Lisa, Sebastian, Callie, Miah, Emme and Devan. She is survived by her brother Norman (Helen) Wensel; sister Lorraine (Emil) Hedman; sister-in-law Jean Wensel, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Adolph and Emilie (Millie) Wensel; her husband Bill; her son Jim; sisters, Gertie and Ruby, and brother Wilfred. Born in Winnipeg, Hettie was the third of six siblings. She married Bill Dawes on February 11, 1939 and became the mother of two boys, Billy and Jim. Hettie loved her family she was a wonderful cook and her beautiful needlepoint works adorn many walls. Her son Jim was taken suddenly at the age of 38, whom she missed and cherished dearly. Winnipeg was her home, though she lived her last years in Calgary. A sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother the loving memories of her friendship and kindness will remain with us always. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interment of her urn will be held at Brookside Cemetery following the service.
