DENISE MICHAUD (nee FREYNET) Le 13 ao t 2007, entourée de sa famille, Denise Michaud est décédée après avoir mené un long et courageux combat contre la maladie. La regrettée défunte laisse dans le deuil, outre son époux bien-aimé de 55 ans, Alphonse Michaud, ses cinq enfants: Nicole (Lawrence Oystryk), Gilbert (Rita Colette), Ginette, Benoit et Claude (Norma Dupont); ses petits-enfants: Stéphane et Patrick Oystryk, Christine, Daniel et Sylvie Michaud, Geneviève Auclair, Joëlle et Colin Michaud; ses soeurs et beaux-frères: Fabiana (feu Arthur Boily), Lucile, Liliane (Alphonse Boily), Béatrice (Georges Boily), et Yolande; son beau-frère et ses belles-soeurs de la famille Michaud: Thomas et Cécile Michaud et Anna Aubin; et de nombreux neveux, nièces et amis. Elle a été prédécédée par ses parents, ainsi que son frère Gérald. Née en 1931 à Sandilands, au Manitoba, Denise était la quatrième fille d'Edouard et de Rosa Freynet (née Laurencelle). Elle grandit dans ce petit village où s'épanouit son amour de la nature à laquelle elle demeura toute sa vie attachée. Après avoir terminé ses études et travaillé à la Banque Royale, elle maria Alphonse Michaud en 1952. Ils fondèrent une famille nombreuse, habitant d'abord la terre familiale à La Broquerie, ensuite Falcon Lake, pour enfin s'établir à Saint-Boniface. Poussée par son amour du savoir, elle reprit éventuellement ses études pour obtenir son diplôme de Baccalauréat ès arts en 1982. Sa famille élevée, elle oeuvra comme bénévole. Avec la venue de ses petits-enfants, elle se dévoua à eux, leur inculquant ses valeurs et participant avec enthousiasme à toutes leurs activités. Denise avait un grand amour pour les arts visuels, la danse et la musique. La langue et l'éducation étaient les fondements de son identité culturelle. Sa vie était marquée par une joie de vivre, un amour de la découverte, un esprit charitable, et un sens de responsabilité sociale. Nombreux sont ceux qui ont été touchés par sa générosité et sa bonté. La famille tient à remercier les parents et les amis qui ont apporté leur généreux soutien pendant des années de maladie. Elle tient aussi à exprimer sa reconnaissance au personnel du Foyer Valade et du Centre Hospitalier Riverview pour les bons soins prodigués. La célébration des funérailles aura lieu à 10h30 le jeudi 16 ao t à la Cathédrale de Saint-Boniface. L'inhumation des restes aura lieu au Cimetière de Saint-Boniface à une date ultérieure. DENISE MICHAUD (nee FREYNET) On August 13, 2007, after a lengthy illness, Denise Michaud died, surrounded by her family. Denise was dearly loved by her husband of 55 years, Alphonse Michaud. She was the cherished mother of Nicole (Lawrence Oystryk), Gilbert (Rita Colette), Ginette, Benoit and Claude (Norma Dupont). Denise was the devoted grandmother of eight: Stéphane and Patrick Oystryk, Christine, Daniel and Sylvie Michaud, Geneviève Auclair, Joëlle and Colin Michaud. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law: Fabiana (feu Arthur Boily), Lucile, Liliane (Alphonse Boily), Béatrice (Georges Boily), and Yolande; her brother-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Michaud family: Thomas and Cécile Michaud and Anna Aubin, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents and her younger brother Gérald. Born in 1931 in Sandilands, Manitoba, Denise was the fourth daughter of Edouard and Rosa Freynet (née Laurencelle). Her childhood was spent in the Sandilands Provincial Forest of which she remained fond for the rest of her life. Having completed her studies, Denise had a short career at the Royal Bank prior to marrying Alphonse in 1952. They began married life on the family farm in La Broquerie, then moved to Falcon Lake, and later to St. Boniface. After raising her family, Denise undertook university studies, ultimately obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1982, and devoted herself to volunteer work. With the arrival of her grandchildren, she became an ever-present figure in their lives, always matching their energy with her own enthusiasm for life. Denise had a great passion for nature and the arts. She was an avid reader with an inquisitive mind who enjoyed lively discussions with her children. Language and education were the cornerstones of her cultural identity. Throughout her life and during her illness, she maintained compassion for others, in words and in deeds. She lived a life of integrity and unparalleled devotion to her family, who remained her first and foremost priority. The Michaud family would like to thank those who offered their generous support during Denise's lengthy illness. So much kindness can never be repaid. The family also acknowledges the staff of the Foyer Valade and Riverview Health Centre for their compassionate and attentive care. Prayers will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15 at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 Des Meurons Street. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 16 at the St. Boniface Cathedral. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at the St. Boniface Cemetery at a later date.
