Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET AUGUSTA EDKINS (nee BRANDSON) On August 13, 2007 Margaret Edkins passed away after a long and fruitful life. She will be lovingly remembered by sons, Don (Anne) of Cartwright, Doug (Bonnie) of Pinawa; daughter-in-law Betty of Lac du Bonnet; son-in-law Del Bergsgaard of North Dakota. She was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1984; daughter Marlene in 2002; son Morris in 2004 and all ten of her siblings. Margaret was born in Arborg on August 10, 1916 of Icelandic Heritage. At a young age she moved with her family to the Swan River Valley where she grew up. In 1935 she married Jack Edkins. Other than a few years in Winnipeg and Sudbury, they made Clearwater, MB their home. Margaret and Jack worked at a variety of jobs together. They ran a restaurant that not only was a good place to eat but became a drop-in centre for young and old alike. They drove school buses, delivered mail, made meals and delivered them to harvesters and cooked for the Rock Lake Church Camp. After her retirement' Margaret took a part time job at Pilot Mound Library. Her love of books and her outgoing personality made her a natural for the job. Margaret was an active participant in the activities of Clearwater and took great pride in being from there. She loved to curl and as she aged decided on a warmer curling activity. She organized and was an avid participant in floor curling for the area. She also loved to watch baseball and was a loyal fan and unofficial scorekeeper for the Clearwater baseball teams. Margaret's love of family was always foremost. How she loved those Brandson reunions! She never lost interest in her children, grandchildren and even all those great-grandchildren. She was our family leader and will be missed by all of us. Our family would like to thank Wanda Watkins for her many years of dedication to Margaret's well being. We would also like to thank the staffs of Boundary Trails Hospital, Rock Lake Hospital and Prairie View Lodge for their wonderful care. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Margaret may be made to the Clearwater United Church or a charity of one's choice. Funeral service will be held from the Clearwater United Church in Clearwater, MB on Friday, August 17 at 12:00 noon. Rev. Emily Lovell officiating. Interment to follow in the Clearwater Cemetery. Graham's Funeral Service of Pilot Mound in care of arrangements.
