Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA DOROTHY VAN STEELANT (nee FRANK) (BUSH) Peacefully, on Monday, August 13, 2007, Edna Van Steelant passed away at Kildonan Personal Care Home at the age of 93 years. Edna was predeceased by husbands, Joseph Van Steelant and Eric Bush; great-grandchild Layne; her parents, Theodore and Wilhelmina Frank; brother Walter; brothers-in-law, Hector Bush, Edward Bush, Ed Van Steelant, Randy Rossnagel, Bert West, Peter O'Connor, Frank Weyforth, Nick Zytaruk, Milton Tegelberg, Frank Morrison; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Bush, Annie Johnson, Laurie Tegelberg, Evelyn Frank. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Joyce (Bruce) Soper, Gloria (Ron) Miller, Bill (Jan) Bush; stepson Art (Sandra) Van Steelant; grandchildren, Lynne (Terry), Perry, Kim (Steve), Glen (Teresa), Shelley, Mandy (Peter), Kevin (Linda), Miles; great-grandchildren, Joelle, Jan, Amber, Lyndon, Bobby, Bradley, Jade, Nicholas, Will, Amanda, Maurice, Jennifer, Leigh-Ann, Joe, Raymond, Jason; brothers, Ed, Larry, Ray; sisters, Mary, Laura, Winnie, Ellen, Amy, Fran; sisters-in-law, Lila, Brenda, Ruby, Margaret, Alice and Greta; brothers-in-law, Stan and Rens; numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born on May 9, 1914 and grew up on a farm in the Ashern area. She moved to Winnipeg to start her working career and resided with her sister and brother-in-law (the Wests). She soon met Eric and they married in 1935. This began her life associated with C.N. Rail. They had postings in Armstrong, ON, Fort Francis, ON, Neepawa, Winnipeg, always leaving many good friends behind. After retirement in 1957, they purchased a store in Stony Mountain, MB until Eric's death in 1965. She remarried Joe Van Steelant in 1971. They retired in Winnipeg spending enjoyable times travelling and a lot of precious times with their children. Mom was a hard-working individual all her life, as well as raising the kids. She looked after the family market garden in Neepawa, worked at T. Eaton's Co. in Winnipeg and worked long hours at the family store in Stony. She was a talented, caring individual who always looked for the good in the people she met. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to the dedicated, caring staff at Kildonan Personal Care Home while Mom resided there. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Stony Mountain United Church, Stony Mountain, MB, officiated by Rev. Ken DeLisle. All grandchildren are Honorary pallbearers.
