Date of Passing: Aug 03, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAMES EDWARD LYSECKI It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of James (Jim) Edward Lysecki on August 3, 2007 after a long battle with the complications of diabetes. Beloved husband of Carol. Proud and loving father of Marlene and David Lysecki. Dearest brother of Elaine and husband Warren Brown of Toronto, and Burton Lysecki and wife Mary of Winnipeg. Caring uncle to many nieces and nephews. Son-in-law of Mary and the late Lyall Harvey. Predeceased by his parents John and Irene Lysecki of St. James. Jim will be missed by all his friends and relatives and all who knew him and loved him. Jim graduated from University of Manitoba with Bachelor of Arts and Commerce degrees. He began his working life with the Hudson's Bay Company but soon chose the profession of teaching. He was a good teacher and spent most of his career at LaSalle Secondary School in Sudbury, Ontario, where he lived for thirty years. He was an avid photographer and consummate storyteller. He took great joy in his summers at the Ilse of Merganser in Trout Lake, Ontario, fishing, sailing, playing cribbage, picking blueberries and inviting his many lake friends to his sauna parties which were a Trout Lake tradition. At home in Sudbury, he recreated the wilderness in his backyard by sprinkling crocuses, trilliums and planting daffodils among the trees. Jim retired to Winnipeg in 1999 to be closer to family and his island. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. A memorial service will be held in Winnipeg at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at 3:30 p.m. My heart aches in sadness, my silent tears flow, For what it means to lose you Jim, no one will ever know. Arrangements entrusted to: Chapel Lawn Funeral Home 885-9715

I just found out about Mr. Lysecki just now. I was a student of his at Lasalle in the early 1970's. Of all the teachers that I had he is the only one I remember So sorry for your loss. RIP to a great teacher. - Posted by: Lucille Macumber (Student) on: Jan 30, 2022

I can remember Mr. Lysecki as a teacher. He was so animated when he spoke of economics. At the time I found myself bored to tears in class, but years later I came to really appreciate his passion for teaching. I wish I had an opportunity to thank him years later. - Posted by: Mike (student) on: Jul 03, 2013
