RAGNA INGIBJORG VOPNI (JOHANNESSON) January 27, 1911 - August 15, 2007 After a long, courageous battle with cancer, we announce the passing of our dear sister, aunt, great-aunt and great-great-aunt Ragna. She died August 15, 2007 at the Arborg and District Health Centre. She is loved and will always be remembered by her sister Dagmar Cosford, her brother Victor Johannesson, nephew Franklin and Barbara Johannesson, niece Lynne Bazilewich, great-nieces and nephews Denise (Mike), Kevin (Vanessa), Cory (Star) and Crystal (Dean), great-great-nieces and nephews, Andy, Kirsten, Matthew, Ryan, Blaise, Courtney, Kaleb and Taylor, as well as nieces Barbara Mekleburg and Carlyann Heibert and families, sister-in-law Anna Bourque and family, sister-in-law Dolla Hugo and her family and sister-in-law Olga Johannesson. She was predeceased by her husband Karl Vopni, her parents, Validmar and Kristveig Johannesson, her brothers Valdi and Thorberg; sisters-in-law Olive Johannesson, Thora Johannesson, Binna Johannesson and Hilda Nelson, brothers-in-law Lorne Cosford, Edward Vopni, Wilbert Vopni, Thorburn Vopni and Mark Hugo. Ragna was born in Arborg and moved with her parents to the farm in Vidir in 1920. She attended school in Vidir and worked alongside her father and brothers doing all the farm chores as well as the field work. In 1947 she married Karl Vopni and moved to Arborg. Ragna raised chickens and turkeys and farmed a 40 acre plot. At the same time, she worked various jobs as cook at the Arborg Hospital, clerk at the Arborg Co-op, secretary at the Arborg Clinic and secretary at the Interlake Development Corporation. In 1971 she and Karl moved back out to the farm in Vidir and Ragna, with the help of her brothers, built a 200 x 40 ft. greenhouse where she raised tomatoes and cucumbers. Her first crop was harvested in the fall of 1971, when she harvested 2,000 Michigan Ohio tomato plants. Most of her produce was sold locally. She continued growing tomatoes and cucumbers until 1981. Last year she moved to the Assisted Living Building in Arborg where she enjoyed making new friends and spending time with her old friends. Ragna was a hard worker all her life. If we complained about some chore that needed to be done she would say there's nothing to it - just doodley do it . She will always be remembered for her sense of humour and her love for her family and friends. The family would like to thank all the home care workers, both from Fisher Branch and Arborg, the staff at the Assisted Living building in Arborg and Dr. Mokate and the nursing staff at the Arborg Hospital for all the wonderful friendships and care Ragna received during her illness. Ragna has been cremated and will be laid to rest at the Vidir cemetery. At her request, there will not be a funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice. Miss Me - But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low Remember the love that we once shared, Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone, It's all a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart go to the friends we know, and bury your sorrow in doing good deeds, miss me - but let me go. Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
