JEAN KOZAK (nee HAWRYSCHAK) It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother and Baba, Jean Kozak, on Thursday, August 16, 2007. Mom was born Eugenia (Jean) Hawryschak on December 4, 1922 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Jean was predeceased by her son Brian on July 23, 1976; her husband Joseph, of 44 years, on June 11, 1991, and her sister Ollie Chernecki on March 4, 2007. Jean is survived by two daughters, Shirley Hallatt and husband Glen, Linda Moran and husband Gerry; two sons, Wayne and wife Bronwen and Karl; seven grandchildren, Paul and Doncella, Sandra, Jason and Jen, Erin and David, Laura, Brian, Tamara and Robbie; five great-grandchildren, Shantelle, Michaela, Tatiana, Ryan and Kevin. Jean will forever be remembered as a giving and caring woman who loved her peaceful moments at Grand Beach and the resort. Jean was always putting everyone else before herself and loved watching her grandchildren dance and play sports. She cherished her dogs, Marley and Jody, known as her babies. One of her favourite pastimes was feeding the birds, her favourite being the hummingbird. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, often making them her famous banana cake. She was known for making traditional Ukrainian dishes for her family and loved polka music. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 21 at Korban Funeral Chapel, 907 Main St. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Moran, David Price, Robbie Field, Tom Price, Jim Freedy and Chris Freedy. A special thank you to the St. Boniface General Hospital, Ward 5E for their exceptional care.
