MARIE (MARY) DAILY It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marie (Mary) Daily, nee Jensen, on Friday, August 17, 2007 at the age of 92. Mary is survived by her three children, Allan Daily (Moira) of Stevensville, ON, Helen Fraser (Dan) of Clearwater Bay, ON and Sandra Miles (Bill) of Redlands, California. She leaves 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren to celebrate her memory. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Alex Daily in 1992; her parents, Hans Christian Jensen (1950) and Mortine Jensen (1983); and brother, Lars (2004). Mary is survived by her siblings: Lars' widow, Roma of Victoria, BC, Magda Pattern of Lethbridge, AB, Anne Gosselin of Winnipeg, Anton Jensen of Beaconia, Chris Jensen (Sophia) of Stonewall and Tim Howcroft (Russ) of Vancouver, BC. Born on June 25, 1915, Mary grew up in Moosehorn, Manitoba. Some of her fondest memories were of the days on the farm. She loved working with the animals and one of her chores was to milk the cows. Mary met her husband, Alex in December of 1931 at a Christmas concert at Parker School. They married on a lovely, cool afternoon on October 27, 1936. Alex and Mary lived in Moosehorn until their children were old enough to go to school. With so many wolves in the area and the children having to walk to school, they decided it was time to move to Winnipeg. They lived on Ottawa Avenue for the next 17 years. In 1964, they packed up all of their belongings into a small trailer that Alex built and moved to southern California. It was a much more forgiving climate for a carpenter! After a while, Mary became involved in the renovation business with Alex and became an expert scrubwoman and painter. They were not afraid of hard work! Alex and Mary retired in Mentone, California and enjoyed many games of golf, trips to Las Vegas and hands of cards. We are hoping that the Jensen luck in cards lives on! Every summer, Mary and Alex would venture north to visit with their family in Manitoba, spending time fishing, visiting and playing cards. Mary traveled back to her mother's birthplace in Fano, Denmark several times. Each time, she amazed her children and grandchildren with her understanding of the Danish language and culture. We were able to share many laughs and learn about the family history with the cousins in a beautiful place a place to which many of us wish to return. In 2005, Mary moved back to Winnipeg. She cherished the time she had with her family and friends. She was well known for her master knitting and crochet skills and even taught knitting to a group of women over the winter. Her tablecloths and blankets are well loved and treasured. To Mary, family meant everything. A simple call or visit made her day, in fact her whole week. To love your family is to know a love with no limits (Wilson Figueroa). We knew a love with no limits. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. Cremation has already taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 200-6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 or to a charity of your choice. We would like to thank the staff of the Grace Hospital 3 North and the Home Care personnel at Assiniboine Links. Your kindness is greatly appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME 885-9715
