Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLIVER JOSEPH (CHUCK) BARRON January 25, 1951 - August 16, 2007 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and brother, Chuck Barron, on Thursday, August 16 after a brave struggle with cancer at the Charleswood Care Centre. Predeceased by parents Albert and Elizabeth, twin sister Olive, sisters Loretta and Cecille and brother Allan. Remaining to cherish his memory are his son Jason, daughter-in-law Jaime, treasured grandchildren Denver and August, brothers Leo, Roland, Warren, Edward and sisters Evelyn, Jeanette and Beverley as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Chuck's passions in life included lengthy visits with Jason and his family, horse racing and hockey. He worked hard for many years at Assiniboia Downs to provide for his family. He worked as a groom, a valet, an assistant starter, a painter and finished his working life as both starter and painter. He often worked two jobs at the same time. That same work ethic was passed on to Jason. He still found time to actively participate in all Jason's sporting activities including hockey and baseball throughout the Interlake and Winnipeg. He was not beyond bragging about Jason's accomplishments. He was so very proud of him. Chuck enjoyed children, adored and was adored by his grandchildren. He spent many hours with them from birth on and it was time that he treasured. A man of strength, humour and values, he held on to those attributes to the very end. Special thanks to Lindsay and the staff at Charleswood Care Centre for their care and attention. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help at the corner of Roblin and Grant. We know you will be watching over us as we all complete our journeys. We will feel your gentle heart with us always.
