PAULINE (LENA) OKRAINEC (MALINOSKY)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPAULINE (LENA) OKRAINEC (nee MALINOSKY) Our Mother and Babu passed away peacefully on August 17, 2007 at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 88. Lena was born in Lac du Bonnet, where she grew up and married Andrew Okrainec and farmed in Brightstone till 1956 when they moved to Winnipeg. Upon moving to Winnipeg, Lena worked in catering until her retirement in 1981. Lena was very active at her parish, St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church and was proud to be a senior member of the St. Josaphat's Ladies League. Her list of talents were many besides given the obvious of being an excellent cook and always preparing, single handedly, the Special dishes for Easter and Christmas Eve. Lena also liked to knit and sew and volunteered with sewing for many years at the Red Cross. Lena was predeceased by Andrew Okrainec, granddaughter Crystal Okrainec, son-in-law Roy Cherneski, daughter-in-law Shirley Okrainec, along with her parents and brothers and sisters. Those left to mourn her passing are, son Leo Okrainec, daughters, Adeline Cherneski and Lorraine (George) Pacaluko; grandchildren, Allan (Evie) Cherneski, Darryl Cherneski, Peggy (Tom) Ritchot, Joan (Kelly) Houle, Norma (Grant) Fraser, Larry (Tracee) Okrainec, Michael (Lori) Okrainec; great-grandchildren, Melissa (Adam) Rogers, Travis Cherneski, Cody Houle, Jesse Houle, Kodi Gilchrist, Andrew Fraser and Diana Fraser, and brother Nick Malinosky. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, August 23 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 590 Alverstone St. with Rev. Fr. Nestor Yakiwchuk officiating. Interment to follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made in Lena's memory to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3G 3M3.
