Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALICE MARIE LEONORE TARDI (nee VAN RYSSEL) December 7, 1932 August 17, 2007 Peacefully, and with family by her side, we announce the passing of our loving mother and grandmother Alice Marie Leonore Tardi (nee Van Ryssel) on August 17, 2007 in Winnipeg, MB. Alice will be dearly missed by her loving husband of 56 years, Tom; children, Lorraine (Gary), Tom (Judi), Elaine (Tom) and Ken (Sue). Her loss will also be felt by her grandchildren, Jeff (Christy), Jason (Angie), Jennifer, Lesley, Tyler, Cameron, Daniel, Alexa, Madison, Jacob, Myles, Justin, and her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Emily, Dani, and Taylor, as well as her sister Anne (Ray) De Pape and scores of other family members and dear friends. Alice was born in Winnipeg. She met Tom at the tender age of 13 and married him when she was 18. Tom and Alice lived their entire life in Winnipeg, most of those years in Transcona where they raised their four children and had many friends. She was a devoted wife and mother who chose to be a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up. Family was always of the utmost importance to her and she was always the first to volunteer to host family dinners whenever an occasion arose. Alice was a confirmed crafter all her life, having mastered many different things from knitting to paper toll, crocheting to plastic mesh. There isn't a family member or friend who won't have something to remember Alice by, made with her own hands. Alice lost three children before birth due to Rh incompatibility, and she spent many years helping others avoid having to go through the same heartbreak. Every Wednesday she would make her way downtown to the Red Cross' Rh Institute where she would give plasma to be used to make serum to combat Rh problems for expectant mothers. She'll never know how many people she helped, but it only mattered to her that she did. The family would like to thank the staff of the St. Boniface General Hospital, particularly those that work in 5B for the wonderful care they gave. A service will be held on Wednesday, August 22 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Timothy's Parish, located at 135 John Forsyth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
