Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFRANCES RIDLEY (nee SOKAL) Quietly on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the age of 75, after a long battle with cancer. Fran will be fondly remembered by her son, Charles, daughter-in-law Judy and grand-children Lucas, Nicholas and Sarah. Fran will also be missed by her sisters Anne (Dan) Zatylny, Stella Barrie, Jean (John) DeGroot, brother Peter (Jean), sister-in-law Lil and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Steven and Tekla Sokal, and brothers John, Fred and Paul. Fran was born on July 13, 1932 in Sandy Lake, Manitoba, where she attended school. In the mid 1950s Fran moved to Winnipeg and went to work. Most recently she worked for Roynat from which she retired after 25 years of service. While working full time at Roynat, Fran also volunteered weekends at the Health Sciences Centre Gift Shop. Upon her retirement she volunteered more of her time at HSC, finally forced to stop due to health concerns. Her first grandchild, Lucas was born in 1997 and Fran decided to decrease the number of hours she spent volunteering in order to spend time with him. She was always a willing babysitter, taking Lucas with her wherever she went. When her second and third grandchildren, twins, Nicholas and Sarah were born in 2000, Fran was a Godsend volunteering her time as a babysitter in order to help her son and daughter-in-law care for their growing family. On her grandchildren, Fran lavished all her love and generosity. Lucas, Nicholas and Sarah will miss their sleepovers at Grandma's. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of N3 West at Concordia Hospital for their care and kindness during Fran's stay with them. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Cathedral, 135 Anderson Ave. with Reverend Canon Murray Still officiating. A private family interment will take place at Glen Eden Memorial Gardens, 4477 Main St. on Friday, August 24 at 1:00 p.m. SEASONS FUNERAL SERVICE Oakbank, Manitoba 444-5444
