Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJAKOB EDMUND FRITZ September 17, 1914 - August 19, 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jakob Edmund Fritz, on August 19, 2007 at the Grace Hospital. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Elisabeth and Johan Fritz, parents-in-law, Marie and Johan Keller, sister, Theresa Brennenstuhl Young, and her husband, Jack, sister, Johanna Sandel and her husband, Georg, brother-in-law, Anton Keller, and his special nephews, Otto Brennenstuhl, Karl Brennenstuhl and wife June. He leaves to mourn his passing, wife, Anna, daughters, Gudrun and Monica, his brother Otto (Ruth), sisters-in-law, Alice Stanisch, Ida Sowitzki (Siegfried), Olga Ewald (Gunther), Hilde Klötzer (Siegfried), Inge Fritz, and their families, as well as the Brennenstuhl families. Jack was born in Unterwalden, Austria and overcame much difficulty and adversity in his early life. He became a master tailor, taking great pride in his work and instructing many apprentices who sought to work with him. He married Anna Keller in 1951 and they immigrated to Winnipeg from East Germany with their daughter, Gudrun, in 1957. Their daughter, Monica, was born in Winnipeg some years later. Jack worked in the Eaton's tailoring department, but soon left to start his own business. He had many clients and never retired formally from the work he loved to do. He had a love of languages, being fluent in five and familiar with another three. He enjoyed speaking with his clients in their own language when possible and listening to the ethnic radio station news programs. He loved the simple things in life -- weekends at the cottage on Lake Winnipeg, watching Hockey Night in Canada with his girls, homecooked meals, the beauties of nature, and driving his car until he was almost 90. He loved his family and took great pride in their accomplishments. He had a kind and beautiful spirit that will be remembered and missed greatly. The family wishes to thank his caregivers at the Health Sciences Centre and Home Care for making it possible for him to spend his last weeks at home. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Neil Bardal Inc. (Portage Avenue and Aubrey Street) on Thursday, August 23 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Scholz officiating. For those who wish, a donation in Dad's memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada, 200 - 611 Corydon Ave., Winnipeg, R3L 0P3. NEIL BARDAL INC. (204) 949-2200 www.nbardal.mb.ca
