Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRENE ADRIEN JOSEPH LANOIE February 23, 1938 - August 19, 2007 Rene passed away at home, with his family at his side, from cancer on August 19, 2007. He was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba to Hyacinth and Mary Jane (Day) Lanoie. He spent his early years in La Salle and moved to Alberta in 1966. He spent his entire adult life working in the construction industry and at the time of his death he was a construction superintendent for Mermac Construction. Rene was loved and will be remembered for his smile and great sense of humour. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Eleanor, and their children: Dwayne and Kim (Keith), and Rene's daughter Cynthia (John); grandchildren: Chad, Chelsea, Katharine and Alannah; brother John (Margaret); two sisters, Rose-Marie, and Marie (Rene); sister-in-law Shirley (Gary) and numerous nieces and nephews. Rene loved life and especially enjoyed traveling, camping, golfing and curling. Anyone who knew Rene knew of his long standing affiliation with frogs, of the four legged variety. Eleanor and Rene have been camping with the same group of friends for 20 years and his absence from the group will be greatly felt. The family would like to express a special thank you to Merle and Diann. Rene did not want a funeral service but a Memorial will be held at the Fraternal Order of Eagle's Club, 9305 - 5 Street SW, Calgary, AB, on Saturday, August 25, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Donations may be made directly to the Children's Wish Foundation.
