HELMUT KARL MATTHES It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Helmut on Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Grace Hospital at the age of 85 years. Remaining to forever cherish Helmut's memory are his spouse Irma, of 51 years of marriage; son Norman Matthes and daughter-in-law Heather Sherritt of Edmonton, Alberta. Helmut's funeral service will be held on Friday, August 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Silver Heights United Church, 199 Garrioch Avenue (corner of Mount Royal Road and Ness Avenue). For those who wish, parking will be available in the Seventh Day Adventist Church parking lot located on Ness Avenue. The family would like to send a special thanks to the nurses, doctors and the staff at the Grace Hospital. Their professionalism, compassion and personal consideration made a difficult time easier to bear. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helmut's memory to The Salvation Army, 500 - 55 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 1L8.
