Date of Passing: Aug 19, 2007
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryISABEL THOMSON (nee DUNCAN) It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear Mom and Grandma on Sunday, August 19, 2007, at the age of 88, at her cottage in Grand Beach, MB. Mom leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Robert (Joan) and Neil (Jo-Ann), as well as her grandchildren, Caelan, Duncan, Brody, Quinn, Kelli and Riley. Also her sister-in-law Jean Muir, niece Dianne Carswell, nephew Doug Muir and their children, Laura and Daniel as well as longtime friend Marge Lopushansky. Mom was predeceased by her husband Robert (Red) Thomson in 1980. Mom was very proud to be born, go to school and live all her life in Elmwood. She was an incredible athlete playing 17 years of senior basketball and 15 years of senior softball. In May of this year, she was inducted into the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame. She worked as an accountant for Elmwood Cemetery up until her son Robert was born. She was a board member at Kelvin Community Club for many years while her children were growing up and was saddened by its closing earlier this spring. The cottage at Grand Beach has been in mom's family since the 1920s and she loved going there with her parents and then with her own children and grandchildren every summer since. We love you Mom and Grandma. We will miss you forever. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler Ave. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Special thanks to longtime Grand Beach friends and neighbours, George and Terry Tanner, Gerry and Vivian Harrison, Betty Clark and family, as well as Grand Beach Fire and Rescue, Pine Falls Ambulance and Colin Friesen of the R.C.M.P for all your efforts and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autism Society of Manitoba, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Humane Society.
