Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIA LESWICK With profound sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Julia Leswick, at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, August 22, 2007. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter Helen; son Dennis (Rosalie) of Mississauga, ON, their children, Michael (Elizabeth) of Toronto, ON and their children, Harrison, Abigail and Olivia; David Leswick (Karen Moar) of Saskatoon, SK and their daughter Julia. Also left to mourn are sisters, Helen and Olga Goshlak. She was predeceased by her husband Michael; brothers, William, George and Theodore, and sister Mary Hayes. Julia was born in Winnipeg on April 25, 1913. She attended St. Nicholas School, King Edward School and Isaac Newton High. As a young adult she became interested in amateur theatre as well as choral work. Her love of singing remained with her throughout her life. She was a lifelong, active member of the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church where she sang in the church choir, served a term as president of the U.C.W.L.C., belonged to the Apostleship of Prayer group, and participated in many fundraising activities. She was involved in community service during the early years of the C.U.A.C. (Community Club) as a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary. She was one of the original volunteers at the Holy Family Nursing Home in it's inaugural years and belonged to the Ladies' Auxiliary for many years as well. She thoroughly enjoyed her regular visits to the Home and interacting with the elderly. Julia was an avid bridge player and enjoyed her association with the bridge club. Although Julia had a wide variety of interests, her family always came first. She was a devoted wife and mother. Her pride had no boundaries when it came to her grandsons and their families. They, in turn, held their baba and great-baba in the highest esteem. Her influence on our family has been immeasurable. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 9:30 a.m., Saturday, August 25 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bannerman Avenue and Arlington Street with a Basilian Father officiating. Interment to follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, donations may be made to the St. Nicholas Church Maintenance Fund or a charity of your choice.
