MARGARET YOUNG (nee MARKUS) It is with profound sadness that the family of Margaret Young announce her passing on August 17, 2007, at the Portage District General Hospital in Portage La Prairie following a brief illness. Margaret was born on November 9, 1918, the fifth of nine children of Michael and Theresa Markus. As a result of her low weight at birth, Margaret faced many challenges in life; challenges that she met with the utmost dignity and grace. Margaret spent all of her adult life living in Portage La Prairie where she made many friends and acquaintances. She was predeceased by her mother, Theresa, in 1955 and her father, Michael, in 1972. Margaret was also predeceased by her siblings, Stephen (George), Andy, Frank, Michael (Mickey), Sam, Anne and Norman. She is survived by her sister, Vera Halbert of Winnipeg, along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses of the Portage District General Hospital for their care and compassion during Margaret's final days.
