LOUIS PAUL WANLIN Peacefully, after a short illness, Louis passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital on August 22, 2007, at the age of 89. Dedicated father and grandfather he leaves to cherish his memory, his loving daughter Jeanette Wanlin; his grandchildren, Nicole Jackson, Colin Jackson and his friend Monique Mathews. He was predeceased by his wife Gilberte (nee Morissette); his parents, Herman and Maria (Poiroux) Wanlin; his two sisters and their husbands, Maria Fifi (Joe), Hélène Sauteur (Victor); his brothers and their wives, Auguste (Rose de Lima), Joseph, Pierre (Albertine), Alphonse, Jean. He leaves to mourn two sisters-in-law, Thérèse Morissette and Thérèse Wanlin, also many nieces and nephews. Dad was born May 28, 1918 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba where he lived until he moved to Winnipeg in 1957. He was an avid reader extremely curious and interested in community and world events. He had a large circle of friends with whom he often had serious discussions. There is one important thing to notice in Louis' loyalty and generosity to the Canadian Blood Services who specially honoured and presented him with an award in recognition for his gift of ONE HUNDRED DONATIONS placing him in a select group of Canadians. By trade, Dad was a Heavy Duty Mechanic Welder. He worked for many years for B.A.C.M. Construction owned by the Sinkin family. Most contracts were Manitoba Hydro's, building electric power dams. His line of work took him all over the country from the Yukon, NWT to Newfoundland and Labrador, Churchill, Gillam, Kelsy and to Early Warming Radar sites in the Arctic Circle. The family wishes to extend special thanks to all staff, doctors, nurses and attendants who provided support and comfort to Dad. In keeping with Louis' wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Martyrs-Canadiens Church, 289 Dussault St. with Father Marcel Toupin officiating. Interment will follow in Fannystelle Cemetery. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 680 Archibald St. 253-5086
