EMILY JEAN BEGG (nee Grieve) It is with great sorrow our beloved mother, sister, and grandma Jean passed away surrounded by family on August 23, 2007 at the Selkirk District General Hospital at the age of 70. Survived by her children Jim (Kathy), Shirley (Glen) Beaupre, Dudley (Sandy), Debbie (Terry) Thordarson, Terry (Ella), grandchildren, Jamie, Dawn, Joleen, Jason, Kelly, Jennilee, Nanci, Lisa and Tom; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, Makailah, Kolby, Madison and Shaylynne; sister Pat Barrow, many cousins, nephews, nieces and special nephew Kenneth Adams. She was predeceased by her husband Harvey, daughter Diana, parents Ernest and Sarah Grieve and brother Rod. Jean was raised in Meadowdale, MB until she married Harvey in 1951 and moved to Selkirk. Jean worked throughout her life at various jobs making many close friends before retiring from Home Care. She was a very generous, kind hearted and compassionate person to all that knew her. Jean's greatest joy was loving and supporting her family. She enjoyed many crafts and hobbies including sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, playing cards and bingo. These hobbies have allowed her family to cherish many items such as stuffed bears, quilts, scarves, mitts, slippers, Cabbage Patch dolls and Care Bears that were made with her loving hands. She also enjoyed being a member of the Gordon Howard Centre, the Royal Canadian Legion #42 and over 60 plus club where she loved the many trips to Shooting Star. She was a resident of the Lyons Centre for the past three years where she made many close friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk with Rev. Brad Elliott officiating. The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff at the Selkirk General Hospital for all their compassion and care shown to Jean and her family. A special thank you to Dr. Demsas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association in memory of Jean. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
