Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS EDWIN DUNN Peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Stonewall Hospital, Thomas Edwin Dunn of Stonewall passed away at the age of 94 years. Thomas is survived by his two children; two stepdaughters; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Thomas was predeceased by his parents; two sisters Doris and Winnifred; his first wife Margaret Hastings Faickney Dunn; his second wife Mary Brown; daughter Norma Jean; stepson Walter; and dear friend Margaret Jackson. Dad was born in Winnipeg on December 23, 1912 of English parents Sarah Elizabeth (Marler) and Thomas Henry Dunn. He married Margaret Hastings Faickney in 1939. Together they raised three children, Thomas George, Norma Jean and Terry Margaret. Margaret (Peggy) passed away in 1968. In 1972 Dad married Mary Brown and became a stepfather to Louise and Carolyn. Mary passed away in 1993. In 1940 Thomas joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was discharged in 1945. During his time there he was trained as an Air Frame Mechanic and he served in various stations in Canada and in Bomber Command in England. Dad was a sign painter and illustrator and he worked in various sign shops in Winnipeg including Universal Signs in Winnipeg and Mediacom in Toronto. After he retired he had a one man sign shop in Wingham, ON. Dad was a past president and life member of Assiniboia Unit 283 of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans of Canada and was a member of the local Stonewall Legion. His hobbies included oil painting, carpentry work and photography. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27 at 2:00 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall, with a viewing to be held at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. While researching a photo of my Uncle Bill Jupp in his Halifax Bomber I tried to decipher the picture painted on the bomber. Star Eyed Sue. After some research it turns out your Father painted it.
