Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGERALDINE FEY MAKARA June 15, 1935 - August 21, 2007 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother on August 21, 2007 at the Selkirk General Hospital with family by her side. Geraldine is survived by her children Sonny (Darlene), Barb, John (Wilma), Jan (Garth), Evelyn (Dan), Eleanor (Steve), Tim (Joanne), Tony (Sandra) and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister Helen Singbeil, brothers Ken and Henry Smith. Geraldine was predeceased by her loving husband Bert in 2001, her son Carl, parents Lawrence and Margaret Smith, brothers Clarence and Ron, and sisters Jean Oig and Esther Flett. Mom was a homebody; she stayed at home to raise and care for her family, the door was always open for her family and friends. There was always a full table of food when every anyone came knocking on the door, day or night you never left without a full stomach. Even when mom began to be in pain with her arthritis and we all knew she was hurting, she still spent her days in her kitchen baking and cooking, thinking of others. Her fried bread was a big hit with everyone, and of course there was always homemade bread, bannock, cookies and desserts sitting on the table any hour of the day and night. Mom will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will be held. God looked around His garden, and found an empty space, He then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face. He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest, God's garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, the road was getting rough, the hills were hard to climb, So He closed your weary eyelids, and whispered come with Me. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, the day God called you home. In lieu of flowers donations in Geraldine's memory can be made to the Arthritis Society of Manitoba. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
