MYRTLE WALPOLE (nee Johnson) It is with sadness, the family announces the passing of Myrtle Walpole on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 83. Myrtle's memory will be cherished by her husband of 60 plus years, Reginald; sons Curtiss (Jean) and Kevin; grandchildren Chris, Corey (Angie) and Chad (Stefanie); great-grandchildren McKenzie, Ethan, Addison; brothers and sisters, Doreen of Langley, BC, Margaret of Winnipeg, Gordon of Winnipeg and Jack (Linda) of Winnipeg and several nieces and nephews. Born in Shellbrook, SK, Myrtle moved to Winnipeg in 1945. She was employed by the Bay for several years at which time she met Reg and they were married in 1947. Myrtle loved flowers and started growing orchids and later had a green house attached to the house and became the orchid lady. For the next 25 years it was her hobby along with keeping a show piece yard of flowers and shrubs. Myrtle was a 35 year member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem #2; a 30 year member of O.E.S. and a member of Daughters of the Nile. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 4 at 2:00 p.m. in Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. The family extend special thanks to Home Care, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority; Doctor Kevern of St. Boniface Hospital and the staff of Riverview Health Centre for the care and compassion shown to Myrtle and her family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
