DORA MARGARET TISSOT (nee BUCKHAM) April 16, 1914 - August 21, 2007 With very heavy hearts we announce the passing of Maw at her home in Charleswood on Tuesday, August 21, 2007 at the age of 93 years. Remaining to forever cherish Dora's memory are her sons, Floyd (wife Valerie) and David; two grandsons, Jeremy and Gary; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She is now reunited with her husband Marcel who predeceased her in October, 1969; father Floyd in 1969, mother Marcella in 1947; brother Joe in 1988; and sister Marcella Mobberley in 2004. Dora was very active in the community throughout her life, working until the age of 90 when she retired. She started driving for her father at the early age of 14. Dora enjoyed many summers at the family cottage at Nutimuk Lake, swam across the lake with a friend when she was in her 50s. She played violin and was a popular fancy roller skater who appeared at the opening of the Victoria Roller Bowl in May of 1942. As well, Dora was a lifeguard at the Sherbrook pool. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 27 at 10:30 a.m. in the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Boulevard at Grant Avenue, with Rev. Fr. Barry Schoonbaert, presiding. Interment will follow in Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, 3990 Portage Ave. For those who wish, viewing will be held prior to mass. Pallbearers will be Messrs Ted Hector, Neil Armstrong, Leslie Armstrong, John Paton, Len Gladish and Darcy Bermel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dora's memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2L 1X3.
