WILHELMINA (MINNIE) WASHENFELDER It's with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of our mother and friend, Wilhelmina (Minnie) Washenfelder, on August 23, 2007, at the age of 84, after a courageous battle with cancer. Her memory will be cherished by her four children, Starlet, Jack, Clinton, and David, their spouses Robert, Signe, Debbie and Jane, her grandchildren Robert, Ryan, Candace, Amy, Thomas, Darin, Joey, Adam, Andrea, and Brent, her surviving siblings, her nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Jacob (Jake), in 1998. Minnie will be remembered for the unending care she gave to her husband, children and grandchildren, the easy laughter she shared with family and friends, her fantastic baking and cooking, and her courage in the face of adversity. She was born on a farm near Killaly, Saskatchewan and worked hard as a child and young woman before moving to Winnipeg where she met her husband Jacob. She had worked at the Selkirk Mental Health Centre and loved playing Bingo and cards, going to garage sales, gathering collectables, crocheting and knitting, and growing a garden. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Selkirk, Manitoba with Pastor Ron Vert officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church whose members and pastors nurtured her over the years. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and homecare providers who gave her the encouragement that sustained her in her final days. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
