Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryANDREW DOUGLAS HENDERSON 1917 - 2007 With sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Andy Henderson on Friday, August 24, 2007 at Rosewood Lodge, Stonewall with his family by his side. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 63 years, Connie; daughter Shirley and her husband, Jack Codd; son Wayne and his wife, Barbara. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Donald (Tina) Gould, Heather Codd, Jennifer (Brad) Skogan, and Adrienne Henderson (Jason Hubar) and his four great-grandchildren, Austin Skogan, Justin and Brianna Donnelly, and Kyler Gould. Andy is survived by his brother Jock (Joan) of Stonewall; brother and sister-in-law Ern and Pam Knowles of Burwash, Sussex and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Sophie Henderson, his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Edd Lawrence. Andy was born on October 22, 1917. He attended Brant Argyle School until he left the community to travel the country working in northern Ontario at Uchi Lake and Red Lake, Vancouver, BC and then joining the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941. He went overseas in 1943 where he met and married his wife, Connie. When the war ended, he returned to Winnipeg where he worked for Bird Construction and then he and Connie moved back to Argyle where he farmed for 26 years. As well as farming, Andy worked on the D.E.W. line, Leo's Sales and Service and then Model Garage. In 1972, they sold the farm and moved to their current acreage. At this time, Andy started to work for Manitoba Hydro at the Dorsey Station until his retirement in 1984. Andy enjoyed many hobbies travelling with Connie in their 5th wheel, woodworking, beekeeping, bowling and fishing. He was always ready to help with any building projects whether for the family or the community. He was a member of the Brant Argyle Legion for 62 years and was an active member of the Argyle Shuffle Club and the Stonewall Bowling league. Andy loved people and was always ready with a quick smile and a twinkle in his eye. He loved spending time with family and friends and was always happy to have people visit. The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Rosewood Lodge for their loving care and kindness shown to Dad and our family for the past year and a half. Andy's funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at MacKenzie Funeral Home, 433 Main St. Stonewall with Rev. Earl Gould officiating. A private family interment will follow at the Argyle Cemetery. Everyone is invited to join the family for a reception at the Argyle Community Hall immediately following the interment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rosewood Lodge, 513 - 1st Ave. N, Stonewall R0C 2Z0 or the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 120 Donald St. Winnipeg, Manitoba R3C 4G2.
