DOROTHY BARNES 1927 - 2007 Peacefully on Sunday, August 26, Dorothy passed away at the age of 80 with her family by her side. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Robert. She is survived by her children, Fred (Gail), Bob (Charlene and her children, Jaeda and Chelsea) and Bev (Doug), grandchildren, Robert (Aylin), Christopher, Freddy, Richard, Crystal, Devin, Jordan, Jaimie and Courtney as well as sister-in-law Sandi, her nephew Bruce and niece Tracey. Dorothy was born in Melita and grew up in the Sturgeon Creek area. She loved her time at the cottage at Gull Lake and cherished her many peaceful summers there. Dorothy had a long and happy career at Salisbury House, working there for over 25 years, where she made many friends with staff and customers. She enjoyed adventurous day trips with special friends Pat, Vi and Esther. Dorothy was a woman who embraced life and was an eternal optimist. The family would like to thank Dr. Greene and the nursing staff on Unit 4 at Victoria Hospital for their warm and compassionate care of our Mom and Grandmother. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, August 30 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with interment and reception to follow.
