MERVIN JACKSON 1923 - 2007 Surrounded by family and friends, our dad and grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 23, 2007, at the Health Sciences Centre. Merv will be sadly missed by his wife Verna Carroll, children Laurence (Vivian) and Shari (Steve), stepchildren Terrance (Barbara), Tom, Brian and Wendy (Elan), grandchildren Kevin (Lisa), Keith (Svelta), Jennifer, Erin, Robert, Ryan and Georges, great-grandchildren Nikolas, Natasha, Vitaly and Anastasia. He was predeceased by his first wife Edith Mutch in 1983, parents Anne and Edward and stepdaughter Lynne. Merv was born on July 18, 1923, in Canora, SK, and spent his early years in northeastern Saskatchewan. Joining the service, he spent four years overseas in the Second World War as a radar technician. Upon his return he met Edith Mutch in Reserve, SK, later marrying in Calgary in 1948. Merv was involved in the automotive industry for four decades and was well known and respected by his customers, many of who became lifelong friends. After the passing of his wife Edith, he met and married Verna Carroll, extending his role of fatherhood to an extended family. His retirement years were spent with friends, family, travelling, gardening and lovingly restoring antique vehicles and renovating and restoring his hobby farm at Rosenort. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church at Pine Ridge, at Garven Road and Hwy. 207, with Pastor Jason Gayoway officiating. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery. There will be viewing at the church one half hour prior to the service.
