ALEX WALOWETZ With deepest sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Alex, at his residence, on Sunday, August 26, 2007 at the age of 73. He was predeceased by his father Fred; mother Ann; sister Mary; sister Nellie; nephew David, and sister-in-law Muriel. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 40 years, Emily; only son Larry; brother Fred (Inis), numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Alex was born in Grandview, Manitoba on August 8, 1934. At the age of 17 the family moved to Balmoral and Alex took up carpentry and farming. In 1967 Alex married Emily and continued to farm. Three years later their only child Larry was born. In 1981 he retired from carpentry, but loved his trade so much he would always have a project going for someone. From 1984 to present Alex continued to farm with his family, mentoring Larry with his farming knowledge. Alex had a knack for carpentry and took pride in a job well done. He was very particular about his workmanship and had an excellent reputation. His memory will live on in the buildings he helped create throughout the Interlake area. Alex loved to tinker around the farm and could fix anything on it. He enjoyed living the country life, appreciated nature and everything it has to offer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. The family would like to thank the ambulance attendants from Teulon and Stonewall who came out to the farm. Prayers will be held on Wednesday, August 29 at 6:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30 at 2:00 p.m. also at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Interment will take place at Victoria Cemetery. Rest in Peace Alex Until we meet again. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
