LEONARD EARL BURKETT January 11, 1926 - August 25, 2007 The family announces with great sorrow the passing of Leonard Burkett, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, at the age of 81. Len will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Gloria; sons, Ron (Marilyn), Randy (Janet), Gary (Cindy); daughter-in-law Marguerite (John); grandchildren, Kevin, Jeffrey, Amber (Matthew), Tiiu (Scott), Kyle, Kira, Steven, Christine (Steve), and great-grandchildren, Syndle, Bryce, Brett; sister-in-law Mona (Jack); brother-in-law Terry (Trudene). Len will be missed by his sister Dora (Sid), brother Herb (Peg) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Edith; three brothers, Roy, Ron, Les; and three sisters, Lucy, Ada, Iris. Len served in the infantry during the Second World War. He worked for CN Telecommunications from 1942 to 1986. Since his retirement Len and Gloria enjoyed many years travelling south to The Grove in San Juan, Texas, for the winter. During the summer Len loved to golf with friends and family. Len and Gloria shared many happy times with Jack and Mona Mclachlan at their home in Palm Springs and with Vern and Ethel Jackson at their cottage. Dad, Papa, we will miss you. Thank you for all the special moments you provided and your love and support during your time on this earth. You will be in all our hearts forever. Special thanks to the Palliative Care staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Ronald McDonald House.
